TERESA & JONATHAN'S | WEDDING, A GRAND DAY OUT, ON THE NORTH YORKSHIRE MOOR'S RAILWAY.
Updated: Aug 4, 2021
That's right, they got married at Pickering Railway Station, on the Platform and then they hopped on the train to Grosmont, for a food-filled trip surrounded by stunning scenery.

During a holiday in Yorkshire Teresa and Jonathan had seen a wedding taking place at the railway station and had thought how amazing it looked. When they came back the following year to visit NYMR again, there was yet another wedding in progress, it was something that they both loved the idea of. Ethan, their son, loves the place too and they thought, what a fun idea for a wedding; it's something different and something that the whole family would enjoy plus it would be a new experience for their guests.
It wasn't a venue on their doorstep, Teresa and Jonathan live in Essex, so it was quite the distance for people to travel. Luckily, they liked the idea of keeping it small and intermit, even before Covid, they just wanted to do something unique and provide a great day out for their guests, to make it worth the travel time.
It was definitely something that everyone enjoyed; after the ceremony on the platform they, boarded the train with their tickets and were treated to afternoon tea, the savoury on the way out and the sweet stuff during the return journey. Whilst everyone wined and dined they chatted to one another and appreciated the views that were to be seen from the train.

Planning their day was pretty tricky at times, they'd rearranged their day and had postponed the wedding by 13 months in the end. Plus the run up to the wedding wasn't plain sailing either, they'd had a few occurrences of children having to isolate, so much so they decided to home school them both for the last 7 days. Here more from Teresa:
"It was a worrying time for the weeks leading up to the wedding due to the COVID numbers increasing again and also having to self isolate due to a case at my sons school 4 weeks before the wedding. We finished up pulling my son out of school and daughter out of nursery 7 days earlier so we didn’t have the worry of getting that dreaded phone call again to isolate. I was also worried about catching COVID just before the wedding and then losing our wedding day all over again which is something we didn’t want to happen as we wanted this day to go ahead so much!!" Rearranging for these two was no easy task as they had to think of their guests rebooking hotels and accommodations, along with them securing the time off work as their wedding was on a Friday. Not only this, they had to know they would be able to fit in with The Forest and Vale, in Pickering too as that was where they were having there evening part of the day.

MOMENTS FROM THE COUPLE What was your highlight of the day?
Jonathan: Seeing Teresa Finally walking down the aisle and knowing that we had finally made it after all the worries with COVID.

Teresa: Getting ready, walking to the station from the hotel and finally being able to say I do and be married after all the worries with COVID. The train ride was amazing and the whole experience was fantastic. Also having the relaxation at the hotel with our guests afterwards was great.

"I went to the bridal shop and had approx 6 dresses to try that I liked but finished up choosing the first one I tried on. Also being a sample gown and being reduced in price by 50% persuaded me to buy it." Jokes Teresa.
