BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECTS FOR REAL BUSINESSES

REAL BUSINESSES

REAL PEOPLE & REAL EXAMPLES

OF HOW BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY SUPPORTS

GROWTH & VISIBILITY.

Branding photography looks different for every business. This page brings together a selection of real projects, showing how thoughtful planning and a calm, guided approach can create imagery that genuinely supports how a business shows up and grows.

Each project is shaped around the person behind the business, their work, and how they need to use their images day to day.

Branding Photography for Small Businesses

I work with small businesses and personal brands at all stages, from those just starting out to those refining and evolving how they present themselves. Some clients come with a clear vision, others arrive unsure how branding photography could work for them at all.

What they have in common is a desire for imagery that feels natural, aligned, and usable. Every session is planned around real working lives, not unrealistic setups or forced ideas.

HAUS OF SC

Haus of SC-Anoif Photography-251.jpg

WHAT THEY DO

HAUS of SC is a coaching business supporting women to move from uncertainty to confidence, helping them recognise their worth and build a life that reflects their goals and values.

THE BRIEF

Shanice was launching her business and wanted a strong bank of imagery she could use consistently across her website, social media, free downloads, and PDF resources. Her goal was to create a cohesive visual identity that felt confident and approachable, without the stiff, corporate feel she’d previously relied on through stock imagery.

She wanted her images to feel aligned with her message and values, while giving her the flexibility to show up confidently across multiple platforms.

THE APPROACH

Although Shanice appears incredibly confident, she admitted on arrival that she was feeling nervous and unsure where to begin. By this point, we’d already shared notes, compared Pinterest boards, and talked things through on the phone, so the foundations were firmly in place.

We started slowly, with a coffee and a walk through the space, allowing the session to ease in naturally. From there, we adapted ideas as we went, working with the aesthetics of each area, switching outfits and props to suit different scenes, and responding to the space rather than forcing a rigid plan.

The session flowed easily, with plenty of flexibility and collaboration throughout.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE USED

The images were created to support Shanice’s full launch, including her website, social media content, and digital resources. They’ve since been used exactly as planned, helping her build a consistent and recognisable brand across all platforms.

More than a year on, Shanice is still regularly using images from the session and continues to show up confidently online. We’re now planning her next branding shoot to build on what we created together.

A QUIET OUTCOME

Shanice finished the session feeling excited, confident, and clear, with imagery that truly reflected her and the work she does.

Branding photography looks different for every business, but the intention stays the same.

FOREST ESPRESSO

Forest Espresso-4.jpg

WHAT THEY DO

Forest Espresso is a speciality coffee business founded by Blane, built around a genuine passion for great coffee and sharing knowledge. What began with selling to wholesalers and the public has since grown into a much-loved coffee shop in Helmsley, alongside his wider brand.

THE BRIEF

Blane first booked a branding photography session in 2022, with a focus on product imagery for his website and social media. He wanted a strong, versatile image library that reflected the quality of his coffee and supported his growing online presence.

Since then, he’s returned for a second session to create fresh content for social media, helping him stay visible while travelling in Melbourne and maintaining consistency across his platforms.

THE APPROACH

At the start, Blane was clear that he wasn’t keen on being in front of the camera and initially wanted to focus solely on products. We talked this through in advance, and I gently encouraged him to include a small number of images featuring him, with no pressure to use them unless they felt right.

Blane had a clear vision for his brand but wasn’t entirely sure how to bring it together visually. We discussed ideas ahead of time, and he brought along props to help build simple, authentic setups. On the day, we worked intuitively with the space, allowing things to flow naturally and adapting as we went.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE USED

The images are used consistently across Forest Espresso’s website and social media, as well as within blog content. Thanks to the variety we created, Blane is still using images from the original session years later.

The more recent shoot focused on behind-the-scenes moments and lifestyle imagery, which continues to feature regularly in his weekly content and helps keep his brand feeling fresh and personal.

A Quiet Outcome

Blane now has a varied, long-lasting image library that supports his business day to day, while allowing him to show up online in a way that feels natural and authentic.

BURTON LEGAL SERVICES

Sally-3.jpg

WHAT THEY DO

Burton Legal Services is a specialist law firm led by Sally, a solicitor focusing on medical negligence. Her work is professional, sensitive, and deeply client-centred, requiring imagery that felt credible, trustworthy, and approachable.

THE BRIEF

Sally booked a branding photography session to create professional imagery for her website and LinkedIn profile.

Although she works from home, using a desk in her bedroom, she was keen that her photos didn’t reflect this setup or feel informal in the wrong way.

She needed images that felt polished and professional, without tipping into anything corporate or intimidating, particularly for use on LinkedIn, where she shares insight and expertise regularly.

THE APPROACH

Before booking, Sally got in touch on three separate occasions. She was concerned about not having a suitable space and initially felt uncomfortable with the idea of being photographed in a café or public setting. Being visible around other people felt like too much pressure.

After talking things through, we reached out to one of my past clients and arranged to use their home as a location. When Sally arrived and saw the space, she was genuinely blown away. It immediately solved the problem she’d been worrying about and allowed her to relax into the session.

Once at the location, we quickly walked through the rooms together and mapped out a simple plan, deciding where each outfit would work best and which spaces suited different ideas.

The session flowed naturally from there, with a mix of professional portraits, detail shots, and more relaxed moments.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE USED

Although Sally hasn’t yet updated her website, she now uses her branding images regularly on LinkedIn. Having a varied image bank means she can easily choose photos that suit the tone of each post, whether that’s professional, approachable, or more behind-the-scenes.

The mix of portraits, details, and relaxed imagery has removed a major barrier for her. Instead of procrastinating about what to post, she can focus on her message, knowing she already has imagery that fits.

A Quiet Outcome

Sally now shows up online with more confidence and consistency, supported by imagery that feels professional, natural, and genuinely usable.

Elf Marketing is a North Yorkshire–based marketing team known for bringing care, creativity, and expertise to every project. They work closely with hospitality, leisure, and retail businesses, and have collaborated with well-known brands including: Greene King, Ooni, and Harringtons.

THE BRIEF

As the team at Elf Marketing grew, they wanted to refresh their imagery with updated headshots, team photos, and behind-the-scenes content. They needed images they could use confidently across their website, social media platforms, and newsletters, while reflecting the personality and approachability of the team behind the brand.

The aim was to move away from anything overly staged and create imagery that felt natural, professional, and easy to reuse.

THE APPROACH

There were no real nerves ahead of the session. Elf Marketing were drawn to my relaxed approach and documentary style and arrived with a clear idea of what they wanted to achieve.

This shoot worked to a defined shot list, which gave us structure without limiting creativity. Once on location, we walked through the spaces together and decided where each type of image would work best. We planned efficiently around outfits, team members, and different activity-based moments, allowing the session to flow while still covering everything on their list.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE USED

The images are now used across Elf Marketing’s website, social media, and newsletters. Having a varied selection of headshots and portraits for each team member means they can choose images that suit different contexts, rather than relying on a single, staged setup.

This flexibility helps the team appear approachable, adaptable, and consistent across platforms, while keeping their content feeling fresh and personal.

THE LIBRARY, MALTON

WHAT THEY DO

The Library is a bar and whisky-led hospitality space in Malton, founded by father-son duo James and Jim. What began as McMillians of Malton, a specialist whisky shop, has grown over the years into a much-loved destination, including a hidden bar above their shop, AKA The Library. Their journey has been one of evolution, creativity, and deep connection with the local community.

THE BRIEF

My work with James began organically. During Covid, Richard and I booked onto an online whisky tasting to support a local business we loved. Without James knowing, I photographed the evening and shared the images with him afterwards. He loved them, and that initial moment marked the start of an ongoing working relationship.

When James and Jim took on a new space, James got in touch early to share their plans. I brought my camera along initially to document the progress of the renovation, before being booked to photograph the finished space. The brief was to create lifestyle-led imagery for social media, their website, and print, including features in Living Yorkshire and the local press.

Since then, I’ve photographed multiple whisky tastings, events, and moments as the business has continued to evolve.

THE APPROACH

James openly admitted that he used to hate having his photo taken and would often dodge the camera. Over time, that’s softened as trust has grown. He’s always given me freedom to work in a documentary, lifestyle-led way, allowing moments to unfold naturally rather than forcing anything staged.

Each session is approached intuitively. We go with the flow, responding to the atmosphere, the people, and the space, capturing the story as it happens rather than directing it.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE USED

The imagery is used widely across The Library’s brand, including social media, website content, newsletters, magazine features, and promotional material. This consistent visual approach has helped the business maintain a strong, recognisable presence across platforms.

The result is branding imagery that feels cohesive, professional, and true to the experience James and Jim have created.

A QUIET OUTCOME

James now shows up confidently within his brand, supported by imagery that reflects the heart of the business and the journey behind it.

Branding photography doesn’t always happen behind closed doors.

RUSTY FOX OF MALTON

The Rusty Fox Malton-75_websize.jpg

WHAT THEY DO

The Rusty Fox is a luxury fashion boutique in Malton, owned by Jane. The shop specialises in high-quality, carefully curated garments produced in limited numbers. Each piece is chosen for its individuality, meaning customers are unlikely to see the same item worn by anyone else once it’s gone.

THE BRIEF

Jane booked a branding photography session during a business mini offer, shortly after relocating The Rusty Fox to a larger premises. She wanted imagery that captured the new space alongside a small selection of photographs featuring her within the shop, to use across social media and her website.

The aim was to reflect the feel of the boutique as it really is, welcoming, personal, and thoughtfully styled.

The Approach

There were no real nerves ahead of the session. Jane was familiar with my work and trusted my approach, which allowed us to work in a very natural, documentary way.

The shoot took place while the shop was open, meaning Jane could continue trading without disruption. We captured the space as it was, making small adjustments only where needed, and worked around customers as they browsed and shopped. With permission, we also photographed Jane interacting with customers, alongside relaxed product and detail shots.

This approach allowed the imagery to feel genuine and lived-in, rather than staged or overly polished.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE USED

Jane uses the images regularly across social media and on her website, helping her present a consistent and professional brand online. The photographs reflect the atmosphere of the shop and the experience of shopping there, rather than simply showcasing products.

I’ve since returned for seasonal updates and to photograph key moments as the business continues to evolve.

A QUIET OUTCOME

Jane now has a growing library of imagery that reflects her business authentically, supporting her online presence while fitting seamlessly around day-to-day trading.

If you can see elements of your own business reflected in these stories, the next step is a relaxed discovery call to talk things through.
