RACHAEL & MATT | Minty-green, Wedding Of The Year, at Birdsall House, North Yorkshire

Updated: Oct 6, 2022

Rachael's self-professed wedding of the year was a blast last weekend at Birdsall House, the action packed day was a total success. It was so much fun from start to end. Rachael and Matt covered every base and made sure no-one would be bored or have a minute to think about it.

Rachel and the girls are holding a balloon saying wedding of the year, they're dressed in white pyjamas and all laughing in the bridal suit of birsall house

The bond between these girlfriends was a joy to capture as they got ready together in the magnificent bridal suit at Birdsall House; there was tears, chatter and laughter- a lot of laughter!!

Meanwhile, Matt and the boys were getting ready in Rachael's family home, just down the road in Burythorpe, what a place. Rachael's parents have to most amazing garden and the house has a balcony which made the perfect place for a few piccies.

Having recently, done a stint as a wedding co-ordinator herself, there was no doubt in my mind that Rachael and Matt’s day would be nothing other than styled and fabulous. On trend with muted, minty-green, slip dresses dresses for her bridesmaids, they looked amazing carrying their traditional, bouquets which were adorn with roses and eucalyptus -perfectly put together by Kyme Queen. The boys also look fabulous in their tweed blue suits, with ties to match the colour of the girls dresses...

They didn’t just think about the look of the day, the pair had crammed it full to the brim with excitement for everyone there too. As they arrive back at Birdsall House, after saying, "I will," in the quaint church just a stones trow away within Birdsall Estate they were welcomed back to the house, by a Modern Gospel Choir, whose energy and presence was felt by everyone. Their notes echoed throughout the grounds as everyone enjoyed the canapés and fizz put on by The Hog and Apple. Rachel has worked with the local caterers regularly and wanted canapés with a twist, she wanted to try and surprise everyone with something a little different. Their favourite addition being the Big Mac Spring Roll, you got it, it’s exactly what it says on the tin, all the elements of a Big Mac, but in a spring roll!

Given Dan, one of the Bestmen had choked on a canapé and being saved by a passing Dr, who was one of the guests, Matt and Nick couldn't help but make a joke out of it during their photos. 🙈😂 Boys will be boys, what a good job Dan was OK and he could also see the funny side of it.

After a glorious welcome, everyone enjoyed and listened to the speeches before the meal; this is becoming increasingly popular, I'm finding. Not only does it let everyone relax and enjoy their food it also makes for a quick exit when the light fades quickly and you have to nip out for portraits mid-course. At least everyone else wasn't waiting around, when we dipped out to get these. I'm so please we did as by the time pudding had been served it was pitch black!

The delicious spread was served to them all, by The Hogg and Apple, before the theatrical desserts were served with dry ice alongside, it looked amazing!

It's so cool when the guests get involved with the entertainment too, with friend Sinead arranging a “How well do you know the couple?” Quiz and then entertained everyone with a good old Mr and Mrs competition which was finished off with the incredible sax player who surprised everyone and had them all on their feet ready to start the evening celebrations.

This is what success looks like when you win the, "how well do you know the couple?" comp, I think he was pleased!

Here's a run down of Rachael and Matt's day, take a look, I love capturing action packed days like this and especially love working in places like this. If you're planning a day like Rachael and Matt, get in touch and tell me all about it.
