A Candid Wedding Day Filled with Heartfelt Moments and Joyful Chaos

Katie and Will’s wedding day was every bit as joyful, heartfelt, and high-energy as they are. They tied the knot on a breezy Sunday in May, surrounded by their closest family and friends, in the most personal and sentimental setting: St Chad’s Church in Kirkbymoorside. This wasn’t just any church—it was where Katie had been christened as a baby and confirmed years later. Returning there to say ‘I do’ made the day feel all the more meaningful.

These two adventurous souls had crafted a wedding that truly reflected them. From a pastel palette of pink and green to the family farmhouse location with sweeping views of the North Yorkshire Moors, their style was relaxed and filled with fun. With the couple keen to avoid anything too ‘posey’, we planned ahead to create portraits that felt natural and spontaneous. Katie and Will wanted their day captured just as it unfolded—real, candid, and joy-filled.

After their beautiful ceremony at St Chad’s, they made a swift getaway and decided to take some time for photos on the way to the reception. With the weather teasing us slightly, it was the perfect moment to capture just the two of them before they got swept up in the action at Manor Farm. It gave us a moment to breathe, laugh, and get some of those precious shots without time pressures later.

The reception took place at Katie’s parents’ farmhouse, where they had pulled out all the stops to make it feel like a colourful country wedding paradise. A stunning round yurt by Yorkshire Yurts was the heart of the celebration. I adore these structures—the natural light streaming in from above and the exposed woodwork inside gives such a warm, Scandinavian feel. It created the perfect backdrop for the fun and festivities to unfold.
Thoughtful touches were everywhere, and one of the standout features was that Katie and Will had handwritten a note to every single guest, sharing a memory or personal message with them. It was such a touching and beautiful idea that left a lasting impression on everyone there.

From entering their reception under a cover of confetti in the bucket of a JCB, to belly-laugh speeches and wild moves on the dancefloor, the day was full of character and celebration. Their wedding was a reminder of what matters most—surrounding yourself with the people you love and making space for genuine moments.

A dancefloor to remember

One of the things that made this day even more special was working as part of an amazing team of creatives. Alongside the talented videographer Macauly and content creator Aimee (who was fab!), it was my first time working with a content creator—and it was such a joy. We all clicked straight away. When you choose suppliers who are in tune with each other and passionate about capturing the essence of your day, the results speak for themselves. We bounced ideas, supported each other, and created a seamless experience that let Katie and Will just enjoy the moment.
As a North Yorkshire wedding photographer, days like this are what make my job so special. I feel incredibly lucky to have captured such a meaningful celebration for two people who were so clearly made for each other.
