A SUN-DRENCHED WEDDING AT BURTONFIELDS HALL | CLARE & JAD

Clare and Jad’s wedding at Burtonfields Hall fell on one of those unexpected days that just feels like a gift.

The first day of May… and somehow the hottest day of the year so far. It felt more like the middle of summer, with clear blue skies, warm air, and that relaxed, happy energy that comes when everyone can just be.
A DAY FILLED WITH PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD
Clare and Jad were surrounded by family and friends who had travelled from all over the world to celebrate with them.
It gave the whole day a real sense of meaning. You could feel it in the hugs, the laughter, the way people lingered in conversations. It wasn’t rushed or over-structured, it just unfolded naturally.

A CEREMONY THAT FELT JUST RIGHT
Their ceremony took place inside the billiard room at Burtonfields Hall.
They could have chosen to marry outside, but with British weather being what it is, they wanted to know exactly what they were getting. And honestly, it suited them perfectly.

While the sun poured in outside, the ceremony itself felt calm, intimate, and grounded. A little pocket of stillness before everything opened up into the celebrations.

THE LITTLE DETAILS THAT MEANT EVERYTHING
There were so many small, meaningful moments woven into the day.
Clare wore her mum’s veil as her something borrowed, which was just beautiful. And the way she is with her niece Molly… you could see how much love is there.

Molly was never far from her side, and those quiet interactions said more than any posed photo ever could.

THE HOTTEST DAY OF THE YEAR (AND THOSE SPRING COLOURS)
The setting at Burtonfields Hall was unreal.

It’s that time of year when the trees have just come into full leaf, everything looking fresh, bright, and properly alive again after winter. The greens felt almost luminous in the sunlight.

Add in the heat of the day, people spilling out onto the lawns, drinks in hand, and it had that effortless summer wedding feel… just a little earlier than expected.

WHEN PERSONALITIES COLLIDE (IN THE BEST WAY)
One of my favourite moments from the morning had to be Laris, one of Jad’s friends.

He kept calling me over for mini photoshoots while the guys were getting ready, helping arrange everyone and fully leaning into the performance of it all.
Completely the opposite of my usual laid-back, documentary approach… and honestly, I loved it.

Those moments added so much personality to the morning. A reminder that every wedding has its own rhythm, and it’s about working with it, not against it.
“WE BARELY HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF US TOGETHER”
Clare mentioned something that really stuck with me.
Despite being together for years, they barely had any photos of just the two of them.
And that’s so common.

Life gets busy, and we’re usually the ones behind the camera, not in front of it. Which is why it felt even more important to create those moments for them, without it ever feeling forced or like a photoshoot.

A CANDID APPROACH THAT DOESN’T TAKE OVER YOUR DAY
Clare and Jad chose me because they wanted something natural and unposed.
So that’s exactly how their day was photographed.

Of course, we tick the boxes. We got the family photos, we made space for a few relaxed moments of just the two of them… but the majority of the day was about stepping back and letting everything unfold.

Capturing the atmosphere, the in-between moments, the real interactions.
A DANCEFLOOR DONE RIGHT
As the evening rolled in, Pick and Mix Disco did exactly what you want a dancefloor to do… got everyone up and kept them there.
The energy carried right through the night.

“THANK YOU FOR MAKING US FEEL COMFORTABLE”
As I was leaving, Clare thanked me for making them feel comfortable and for capturing their day without making it all about photos.
And that’s always the goal.
Because your wedding day shouldn’t feel like a photoshoot. It should feel like your day… and the photos should reflect that. Tell me what you think, comment below.
