Pippa and Luke got in touch at the beginning of the year to chat about wedding photography, we clicked straight away. Luke’s a keen photographer himself, and they both loved the candid wedding photos I share all over my website.

As I got to know them better, one thing stood out clearly: these two are completely and unapologetically themselves. They’re spontaneous, adventurous, and so full of fun, (everything I love to capture as a documentary wedding photographer).

Their wedding day was a perfect reflection of that.

They began the morning with a quiet, intimate ceremony in the breakfast room of their wedding venue, just the two of them and their closest family. Later, the celebrations continued on the island at the gorgeous Hackness Grange, a beautiful wedding venue tucked into the North Yorkshire countryside.

This is where their handfasting ceremony took place. It was heartfelt, unique and full of meaning lead by a close friend a past colleague of Pippa's. Everything about the day was deeply personal. From swords and shields to Lord of the Rings-themed decor, and ceilidh dancing to bring everyone together.

And that dancefloor, some of you might know how much I love capturing the dancefloor! This one was a joy to capture! The energy was infectious, the laughter non-stop, and it was everything I love about candid wedding photography — real people, real moments, real connection.

As the rain came in, we didn’t run. Instead, we grabbed cloaks (yes, actual cloaks!) and embraced it. We headed into the garden for some dusky portraits, playing with flash to create images that felt straight out of Middle-earth. It was moody, cinematic, and absolutely up their street.

Honestly, these are some of my favourite images from the day.

It was an absolute joy to capture this wedding from start to finish — the quiet moments, the big laughter, and the wild cake cutting (watch the slideshow to see exactly how they did it.

What a wonderful story about Pippa & Luke's wedding at Hackness Grange! You can feel that every detail was thought out with love and a thirst for adventure, creating a real atmosphere of warmth and happiness. It reminds us how important it is to make the space around us cosy and functional. For example, at https://www.tintfit.com/shop/conservatory-roof-plastics you can find a variety of window films — decorative, sun protection and safety — that help control light, create privacy and add style to any room. Such details, although seemingly small, can radically change the atmosphere of a space, making it more cosy and harmonious — almost like Pippa & Luke's perfectly planned wedding.
