A North Yorkshire, Marquee Wedding, this is how it's done.
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of photographing Katy and Ben's extraordinary Glastonbury-themed wedding, held at Katy's family home in Sproxton. Nestled just outside of Helmsley, this picturesque location offered an incredible backdrop of rolling Yorkshire landscapes, setting the stage for a truly memorable day.

The ceremony was a heartfelt affair, officiated by Ben’s brother. The couple exchanged their vows in front of their closest family and friends, and the emotion was palpable. Katy’s entrance, accompanied by her father, was particularly moving. As she walked up the aisle, her emotions bubbled over, and she fell into Ben’s arms, creating a moment that will be cherished forever. How lucky am I to have been able to capture this.

The wedding was a vibrant celebration of wildflowers and mixed colours, perfectly complementing the Glastonbury theme. Each guest received a personalized wristband, just like at a real festival, adding a unique and fun touch to the day. The atmosphere was electric, with Fay Donaldson playing her saxophone as guests enjoyed delicious canapés and drinks provided by Poppy Caterers. The sun shone brightly, allowing everyone to bask in the beauty of the Yorkshire countryside while the mellow notes of the saxophone created a lively yet relaxed ambience.

Katy and Ben had expressed concerns about their photos, as neither felt comfortable in front of the camera. They wanted their photos to be natural and unforced, their portraits ended up being just that, so beautiful. Fortunately, Katy’s dad, Simon, had grown wildflowers in front of an incredible backdrop, which turned out to be the perfect setting for their pictures. The guests also loved this area, and it became a popular spot for capturing memories throughout the day.

In keeping with their desire for a relaxed wedding, Katy and Ben opted for a stunning charcuterie board instead of a formal three-course meal. This incredible spread, laid out across several tables at the front of the marquee, was a work of art and a hit with the guests.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the party. Fay Donaldson continued to entertain, transitioning from mellow tunes to more upbeat, funky numbers. She even joined the guests on the dance floor, ensuring that everyone was up and dancing. The couple’s confetti-filled first dance was a spectacular sight and something I’ll remember for a long time.
If you’re planning a wedding, I highly recommend incorporating confetti on the dance floor!

Katy and Ben’s Glastonbury-themed wedding was a day filled with love, laughter, and
unforgettable moments. It was an honour to capture their special day, and I wish them all the happiness in the world as they embark on this new journey together.
